Bringing #AuthorLifeMonth to a close, it’s time to look ahead and ask, what’s next? First, place that final period on The Chalice and the Blade next month. Then, step back in time to the days when the Minoans ruled the seas and risked their lives for copper.

Hope to see you there…

February, Day Twenty-Seven…

I learned something new yesterday. Through #AuthorLifeMonth I discovered the “comp” in “comp titles” means “comparable,” not “complimentary.” Good to know! In that case, Bree MacLeod’s Story doesn’t really have comp titles, in the comparable version of that word. The closest I can offer are Marion Zimmer Bradley’s Darkover series crossed with Kathryn Kurtz’s The Adept series, with a bit of Hank Wesselman’s SpiritWalker trilogy.

Free stuff is the focus for today’s #AuthorLifeMonth entry, specifically comp titles. I have three freebies on offer, all downloadable from ThroughShamansEyes.wordpress.com:

The Interview

The Labyrinth … included in the anthology, Out of Darkness

Shaking the Tree… honorable mention winner on Mythraeum.com!

As #AuthorLifeMonth turns into the homestretch, we consider favorite writing spots. I have a few, depending upon what type of work I am doing. For editing, you can catch me enjoying tea and a scone under the flying goat.

1. McVities biscuits

2. A water kelpie

3. A willow seat

Catching up with #AuthorLifeMonth, here’s a two-for-one… greatest writing weakness and writing strength. Weakness? Fragments. Really. Especially in the first draft. But, I am incredibly dedicated and disciplined. I work and rework passages until those fragments birth sentences that resound with Bree’s voice.

Today #AuthorLifeMonth asks… what’s your non-bookish hobby. Here is something that used to be my profession but is now more of a passion. I am a polyglot. Languages fascinate and inspire me. Climbing into grammar and syntax is like touching the threads that weave soul to Creation.

Day eighteen of #AuthorLifeMonth looks at dream author meetings. As a poet, I would love to sip coffee with Homer and Shakespeare. As a novelist, I would love to wander the hills of Darkover with Marion Zimmer Bradley and Lew Alton or Margali n’Ysabet.
