Habits, beliefs, customs… patterns inherited or ingrained by long usage… we all have them. Whether we chose them for ourselves or inherited them as gifts or ancestral bequeaths, those grooves of repetitive doing wear themselves into all of us.

Some of those habits feel unpleasant; we can see the devastation that they yield in our lives. These patterns we are often eager to change. We may pursue them rigorously, seeking assistance from healers, therapists, shamans to free ourselves from the pain of the unhealthy pattern. But what about those patterns that still feel comfortable? We know them. We know who we are within them. Like ruts worn by tires across a well-traveled bridge, we are at ease letting those ruts guide our wheels; after all, we know those ruts will see us safely across the river.

Let go of the comfortable, and come home to right for you.

But do those ruts really serve us? Do they carry us across the river to our true destination? How much more of our Truth might we live if we walked a path that is uniquely our own? What beauty might we discover if we set ourselves free to walk freely in every situation?

Let go of the comfortable, and come home to right for you.

Solitary Sentinel
by Jennifer L. Jacoby

Endless centuries
I have stood
defending the ramparts
Repelling attacks
where others did fall
Countless moons
I have knelt
maintaining the vigil
sword ever ready
for the wailing call

Ages in solitude
I preserved the glory
barring the way
to those who would know
In dutiful watch
I held the keep
patching the holes
where something would grow

In the light of today
I survey
my last bastion
a decrepit array
of life withdrawn
As the patchwork crumbles
to free the foundation
I sheath my sword
and walk into the dawn

Peace and long life… Jennifer

Each planet, in its dance around our galaxy, spends time far away from the Sun as well as time close to the sun. This shifting in distance is part of what creates the seasons here on Earth. Right now, Venus is experiencing Her own time closest to the sun, Her time drinking in the full light of the Sun.

Open the shutters within your soul and set the light of creationing free.

We all have times when we need to drink in the refueling light of the Sun. Often we are encouraged to seek the light, but what does that mean exactly? After all, light dances in many forms. We can choose to seek the light of the Sun, to bask in its warming radiance. But too much time in the Sun, or too close to the Sun, can burn and wither us instead of nourish us. We can turn our face to the Moon, drink in the soft opalescence of Her nurture. But even She must rest at intervals. So what is the light that never tires?

A third light shines to us, shines from within us… the light of soul. Like the fire that heats the Earth from its core, our inner light illumines us from within. We can choose to embrace this light, to live in its radiance, to drink in its wisdom and its warmth. We can seek this eternal light and set it free to dance with the light of both Sun and Moon.

Open the shutters within your soul and set the light of creationing free.

My heart beats
echoing the drum
pumping power
through to my bones
I am here

A scintillating caress
power ripples
circles within me
quickening my breath
I am ready

Lightening unleashes
the stillness
and my soul falls
to grace
I am One

Peace and long life… Jennifer
